Phi Beta Sigma’s intentional focus on education was firmly established in 1936 with the election of Hon. Bro. Fred G. Minnis Esq, the Fraternity’s first elected Director of Education. This historic decision, unique among our fraternal counterparts, codified education as a central pillar of the organization and set in motion a tradition of leadership that continues to shape the Fraternity’s service to students, families, and communities.
Chi Sigma Chapter’s Education program, is developed from Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity’s traditional emphasis on education and academic achievement as an ingredient for success. Chi Sigma’s scholarship component is designed to have Sigma grow its impact in the area of assisting SBC members with the cost of education at the college level through the awarding of scholarships at both levels.
